VITA Helps families get back over a Million Dollars!
With the support of Mt. Zion Baptist church, the Wachovia Foundation and community volunteers our 2009 VITA, volunteer income tax assistance, program was a success. Well over a million dollars in income tax refunds was brought back to individuals and families we served. With an average refund of $1539, households we served received about a 7.5% raise for the year. This extra income is critical to the financial health and well being of those in low wage jobs and the elderly on low fixed incomes who are struggling to make ends meet.

New Level CDC is part of a community wide effort every year to provide this service for low to moderate incomes households in Davidson County. Every year the number of people coming to one of the VITA sites around the area increases. This year there were 16 Vita sites and the total refunds for the area have already exceeded 8 million dollars. In today’s tough economic times, money coming back to thousands of families struggling financially in Nashville means the ability to feed their families, keep their housing and get themselves to work.
Our VITA program could not have been a success with out the help of all of our sponsors and partners. A special thank you goes to the great team at Outback Steakhouse on West End for sponsoring our volunteer appreciation dinner.
